Slip-ons are typical shoes that are light, lace-less. The most widely seen type, known in American culture as a loafer or slippers, has a design of a moccasin. Wildsmith Shoes, called the Wildsmith Loafer, introduced one of the first designs in London. They started out as casual shoes, but became more popular to the point that they were worn in America with city lounge suits. The design was introduced as Aurlandskoen (the Aurland Shoe) in Norway (early 20th century). They are worn in many cases in a variety of colors and styles, often with front tassels or metal decorations.
